[ Watford Gap the Musical ] Oct 09 |
BBC Radio Northampton have teamed up Producer Benjamin Till to produce a short film musical based on the Watford Gap services. Famous amongst locals and indeed every travelling musician during the sixties. The Blue boar cafe was the place to be on the M1. Here at rooksmere we have been recording all the local singers and musicians with Benjamin. I would like to say a big thank you to the BBC and Ben for choosing Rooksmere. It was a most enlightening session. We did infact record a Dyson Hoover! Here are some comments on the day.....

Out with the old and in with the new! We are in the process of upgrading our pro tools from HD2 running on a G5 to HD3 running on an eight core Mac Pro! Possibilities could simply be endless?!?

[ 'New Day' Charity Single ] Sept 09 |
This project has been going for about a year now and given the amount of involved parties this is no surprise! It started with Liane Carroll and her band laying down the foundations with Drums, bass and Piano. We then added Guitars courtesy of 'Mark Griffiths'. A fantastic horn section followed consisting of Greame Flowers - Trumpet, Gary Witts - Trombone and Steve O'Gorman - Tenor Sax. World renown percussionist 'Sandeep Ravel added his fairy dust and vocals were added by both 'Northampton School for Girls' and the boys at 'Thomas A Beckett School'. As if this was not enough Local Celebrity DJ's 'Jagger and Woody' from Heart FM and The Cobblers Football team added their vocals. The single entitled mix is approaching completion so watch this space for further details of release and available outlets!

[ The Nighthawks ] July 09 |
The Nighthawks are one of Northampton longest running bands. Playing aa mixture of Jazz and soul music they also feature one of Northampton's finest musicians Mark Griffiths who is now preparing for a tour with Cliff Richards and the Shadows!.
Their CD is now finished and awaiting pressing. Thanks Nighthawks for using Rooksmere.

We spent a couple of days at the end of July recording their new Demo's and this is what Tony Meadows, band leader had to say about the experience. ' What can we say about our experience at Rooksmere Studio? It has excellent, relaxed facilities. We achieved exactly what we wanted to over the 2 days – 5 great recordings.
But for us one of the main highlights of the experience was Mark’s ear (s), he was so in tune with what we were wanting and how to get the best out of our time and our abilities. Mark didn’t just engineer the experience he took part with us and contributed without taking over. We’ll be back! '

[ Christmas Albion band album ] sept 08 |
Yes, this month sees the recording of the second christmas album for the Albions here at Rooksmere. The band consists of legendary folk muso's Ashley Hutchings and Simon Nicol along with Simon Care and Kellie while. Mince pies and tinsel a plenty!

[ Green Room Completed! ] Aug 08 |
The new green room is now open for business! We have been working hard to get this completed for the autumn bookings and it is finally done. It has a beautiful lantern roof light and has air conditioning and under floor heating.
Other features include: Kitchen facities (Tea, coffee, fridge, microwave, sink etc), Digital TV, Wireless internet connection & Patio area.
